TYPO3 - Technical advantages
In addition to the visual appearance of a website, the technology is the linchpin of a website's success. TYPO3, which is based on PHP and can be used with MySQL as well as with PostgreSQL or Oracle databases, also sets technical standards. Here are the most important technical advantages at a glance:
Multi-Sites Management
The TYPO3 core architecture is designed to handle an unlimited number of independent websites within the same installation (!). Corporate solutions with several internet, intranet, extranet and micro sites can all be run in one and the same system. The design and structure can be identical or completely different. Content elements (e.g. news) can be shared as well as separated - this also applies to any type of media.
Sophisticated multi-level caching
Labor-intensive processes such as the creation of menus and image scaling only have to be carried out once thanks to TYPO3's caching capabilities. The content is then only served from the internal cache. This saves resources and enables the high-performance delivery of large websites with thousands of pages and high user access numbers.
Dynamic graphics generation
Graphic elements such as menus, banners or headings are generated automatically: foreground and background layers, typography, drop shadows, alpha channel masking, the use of TrueType fonts (typefaces) and much more are possible. No matter how you arrange the pages, TYPO3 always keeps the desired content elements up to date.
Large developer community and open architecture
The flexible structure of TYPO3 is based on open standards, i.e. PHP5, the most popular of all scripting languages, and MySQL as the database. Both standards are open source - as is the complete TYPO3 development. TYPO3 enjoys a large, global developer community with customers from a wide range of industries.
