Condolence website in the shortest possible time
Mourning website with WordPress
In the early morning of October 28, 2024, web-vision received a call from the diocese of Limburg that an important church and parish member in the diocese of Limburg had passed away. The diocese expressed the wish to have a way to condole on the Internet at short notice.
However, a brief search on the web showed that there were no ready-made solutions that would be available at extremely short notice within a few hours. The aim was to publish a website by the time the funeral was published, where visitors could enter their condolences online and the editorial team from the diocese of Limburg would publish them after they had been viewed and approved.
Comment function for condolences
As WordPress is a widely used blog system and already has a comment function for blog posts in the basic installation, it was decided to use WordPress in combination with a selected theme as the basis for the condolence website.
Within a few minutes, the desired domain could be selected, the hosting set up and WordPress installed.
While web-vision took over basic information such as the imprint and data protection from the Limburg diocese website, the team at the diocese was able to take care of the press releases on the funeral of Dr. Franz Kamphaus. This was followed by a template for the article and the necessary access rights for the editorial team.
Since the WordPress comment function was to be used as the basis for the condolence, web-vision also adapted the WordPress instance so that the mourning article appeared directly on the website homepage and condolences appeared there instead of comments and could be entered there.
Within just under 3 hours, the condolence website for Dr. Franz Kamphaus was created, adapted and published for press articles and for use by parishioners.
