DeepL Translate for TYPO3
Development update December 2024
The last major update for DeepL Translate was a few months ago: In May 2024, we released the version for TYPO3 v12 in the TYPO3 Extension Repository. At that time, we also introduced the new add-ons "DeepL Translate Auto-Renew" for automatic and updated translations.
Now, just before Christmas, we would like to delight you with a small “Christmas present” and answer the questions about the Early-Access program for TYPO3 v13.
Update from 20.12.2024: DeepL Translate and DeepL Translate Glossary have been released with support for TYPO3 v13 and v12.
What has changed for DeepL Translate since May?
Over the past few months, we have been working intensively on hardening the DeepL Translate extensions. Not only have we been able to fix numerous bugs, but we have also implemented new features:
- NEW: Dashboard widgets for the overview of approved translations, the use of the DeepL quota and the bulk translation queue
- NEW: System messages now show the DeepL limits used.
- NEW: Adjustable user rights make it possible to share the translation function with specific people or groups.
New functions in the demo and on YouTube
The new functions are available for testing in our TYPO3 v12 demo, and you can find screencasts for the new functions on our YouTube channel:
- TYPO3 and DeepL - High quality automatic translations for website content
- TYPO3 & DeepL Glossary Demo
- DeepL Translate for TYPO3 - Automated Asset Translation
- DeepL Translate in TYPO3 - Bulk translate
- DeepL Translate Demo for TYPO3 - Features: Auto-Translation and Renew Translation
Additionally, we have been working on a new naming concept for the DeepL Translate extensions and got the official "go" from DeepL for naming and using our TYPO3 extensions.
A big thank you to everyone who reported bugs and feature requests to us!
Uniform naming of the DeepL Translate extensions
Our main extension "DeepL Translate" will continue to be published and maintained with the extension key wv_deepltranslate in version 4. However, the new "DeepL Translate" version 5 will be published with the extension key deepltranslate_core in future.
- Current version 4.x: wv_deepltranslate
- Future version 5.x: deepltranslate_core
The main extensions remain open source and will continue to be actively developed on GitHub and made available via the TYPO3 Extension Repository and packagist.org. For a better overview, here is a small table:
DeepL Translate Version | TER name | Packagist name | Supported TYPO3 versions |
---|---|---|---|
4.x | wv_deepltranslate | web-vision/wv_deepltranslate | v11, v12 |
5.x | deepltranslate_core | web-vision/deepltranslate-core | v12, v13 |
The glossary functions have now been moved to the new add-on extension "DeepL Translate Glossary" (extension key: deepltranslate-glossary). This was an important step for us so that we can further develop the frequently requested extensions for the glossaries in a leaner way. The "DeepL Translate Glossary" will also continue to be published as open source software in the familiar channels.
The DeepL Translate add-on extensions for TYPO3 will therefore be given the following names in future:
- DeepL Translate Glossary
- DeepL Translate Assets
- DeepL Translate Auto-Renew
- DeepL Translate Bulk
There is also a small exception with "Enable Translated Content", as the function behind it can also be used without DeepL Translate.
Incidentally, the same naming scheme is then also continued with our Magento brand"Extendware" and thus extensions available there are also available under the following names:
- DeepL Translate
- DeepL Translate Glossary
- DeepL Translate Auto-Sync
Is there a new Early-Access program for TYPO3 v13?
No, we are not launching a new program. Instead, all partners with a current EAP will automatically receive access to the latest extension versions as soon as they are available. However, an extension of the EAP is possible on our website and extends the partnership by 15 months.
When will DeepL Translate for TYPO3 v13 be released?
The new versions of the "DeepL Translate Core" and also the "DeepL Translate Glossary" are available since December 20, 2024, in the TYPO3 Extension Repository and on packagist.org - our thanks to you for the great support last year! These have direct TYPO3 v13 and v12 support.
The updates of the add-ons will follow from Q1/2025. Early-Access partners will get immediate access to the extensions as usual.
Improved payment options for DeepL API codes
Payment on account and contingent upgrades
Especially for public institutions and universities, but also for some companies, payment by credit card still seems to be a challenge when ordering DeepL API keys. With our hosting platform domains-vision.dewe offer a solution for payment by invoice:
- DeepL API Keys with 1,000,000 characters/month for 29.99 EUR net. Billing is either monthly, quarterly or annually.
- Additional 1 million characters/month quota upgrades can be added to an existing subscription for EUR 20.00 net.
Each customer receives an individual API key that is fully compatible with the DeepL Translate extensions.
We would like to thank you for your support and look forward to an exciting year 2025 with you!
DeepL Translate - Feature Sponsors
The following educational institutions have had web-vision jointly develop new functions for the DeepL Translate extension as part of a requirements pooling process. The requirements were determined jointly and the development was jointly financed. Thanks to this cooperative form of development participation, the glossary function, the markup labels for automatic translations and the simplified release with Enable-Translated-Content were successfully realized.
DeepL Translate - Early-Access-Partner
The following Early-Access partners - including digital agencies, industrial companies, universities, educational institutions and organizations from the public sector - are already successfully using the DeepL Translate extension for high-quality, automatic and data protection-compliant translations with AI technology "Made in Germany".
